The East Coast has been busy with various activities including families, teens, and adults. National Leadership Council members have been playing an active role as leaders in regional programs running mixers/get to know you games, leading activities, giving presentations, and have been a support to the discussions sessions.  

Although some of the local chapters have not recently run their own events, they have been supportive of the regional and national programs by sending teens from their local area, as well as helping with chaperoning and travel duties. Many chapters however, are very active; to see specific activities held by East Coast Chapters please check out the Grapevine section of this newsletter. We are also grateful to announce a new chapter has started in Bronxville, NY, serving families from NYC, Long Island, and Southern, CT.

Highlights included:
• A Northeast Winter Weekend Getaway in the Berkshires (MA). Twenty-two middle and high school students and five chaperones attended this event from A and VT. Activities included skiing at Jiminy Peak and Snow Tubing at Snowy Owl.

• Another regional included kayaking and camping at Jetty Park (Florida). The Florida Chapters hosted the event with over 100 in attendance. Activities included mixers/get to know you games, an inspirational speaker, and kayaking around Merritt Island where many manatees, dolphins, and birds were seen. Time at the beach swimming and making sand castles was also enjoyed, and the weekend was capped with an All Camp Video and Principia Show.

• On May 4-6, DiscoveryBound hosted a Middle School Regional (serving grades 6-8) at Crystal Lake Camps in Pennsylvania. Twenty middle schoolers, three NLC members, and nine chaperones attended. 18 of the 20 middle schoolers were first timers. The three NLC 10th graders were junior counselors and gave a power point presentation on their experiences of NLC.
