Northwest Region:

DiscoveryBound’s Northwest Region continues to focus on family chapters with growing consistent outreach to the whole community and support of teen national and regional events. All offer meaningful fellowship and are including this year’s inspirational focus to recognize and share healing.
Spring’s calendar brought a weekend of record-breaking fundraiser garage sales in church parking-lots in Portland and Southern Oregon; chapter families getting to know local neighbors while they earn money to replenish travel funds for camp and DB national events.
In May, the ever-popular San Francisco Road Rally Regional brought together 40 awesome teens and chaperones on a picture-perfect Cinco de Mayo weekend for a teambuilding scavenger hunt. Also, 43 teens from throughout the region attended the Boston Youth Meeting.
Summer continued with, among other events, a service project for Twelve Acres, a CS nursing facility in Northern California; Operation Testimony Meetings (OTM’s) in Oregon and Washington; and Sacramento’s growing tradition of the “Third Sunday of the Month” potluck and activity, rotating hosts amongst chapter church communities.
In mid-August, Seattle and Northern California will kick off the new school year with picnics at the lake for the whole community (plenty of water sports included!), followed by Portland’s DB/Prin Club community event over Labor Day.
Interest in adult fellowship grows as well, with the only 35+ chapter in the country drawing folks from throughout Northern California to more than one event a month, including hiking in the Sierras, canoeing on the Russian River, and many theater/dinner nights with plenty of time for meaningful discussion.
The brand new “Affinity 25-35” Bay Area chapter kicks off this Fall, with interest in “Affinity 18-25” on its heels, encouraged by recent DB grads now in college. As the old adage goes, “There’s something for everyone!”
