Curious about the process of sourdough making…come join us. It will be easy and fun!
This 4-month virtual affinity group is designed for new and seasoned bakers who want to learn the basics of sourdough (and sourdough starter) while in a friendly atmosphere open to questions and conversations. No experience necessary – just a desire to learn, grow, and connect!
What You’ll Receive
- Monthly 75-Minute Virtual Sessions (via Zoom)
Led by Dave and Elizabeth, each session will begin with some short metaphysics, conversation, and then we will dive into the joy of sourdough bread making. At the end of the 4 months you will have your own sourdough starter (theirs is now 5 years old and has been shared with others) and the ability to bake your own sourdough bread. - Community Connection Space
A supportive group to share your baking questions: things that are working and things you may be struggling with. In between each month’s session you can email Elizabeth at with questions so that you are ready for the next session. (Email provided after registering.) - Guided Exercises
Easy-to-follow starter and baking steps and resources.
Dates: 4 Months Once a Month/Schedule
Start date: September 23, 2025
End date: December 16, 2025
Sessions time: 6:30–7:45 PM MT (Zoom link will be sent one week before the 1st Session)
Monthly Bread-Making Themes
Session 1 – Tuesday, September 23: Start Your Sourdough Journey
→ Learn to create and care for your sourdough starter.
Items needed: Specified flour & water, 16 oz jar with lid
Session 2 – Tuesday, October 21: Bake Your First Loaf
→ Dive into the basics of making your own loaf of bread warm out of the oven with a pad of butter on top.
Session 3 – Tuesday, November 18: Bread Flavors and Designs
→ Explore other flavor sourdough breads (green chili cheddar is a favorite of theirs or add-ins of your choice) and scoring techniques.
Session 4 – Tuesday, December 16: Delicious Discard
→ Discover creative recipes using sourdough discard (we will focus on blueberry pancakes)
Each session includes:
- A hands-on with sourdough
- 15 minutes of inspiration and sharing
- Time for questions and community

Registration: $40, includes four Zoom sessions
Couples or two people in the same household can join together on one screen—no extra fee!
Note: Ingredients and tools for creating a starter or baking sourdough bread are not included. You should receive an email ahead of time with the list of ingredients and tools you will need.

This group is intentionally small to provide time for questions and conversation.
What Do You Need
For Zoom Sessions
- A computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet access
(Zoom link will be provided upon registration) - A quiet space where you can listen, participate, and bake along
For the Bread/Sourdough Starter
Tool Supplies:
- 1/2 cup measuring cup (for dry ingredients)
- 1 cup glass measuring cup (for wet ingredients)
- 16 oz jar w/ lid (to keep the starter in)
- Dough whisk
- Flat whisk
- Lame for scoring bread (or sharp knife)
- Dutch oven (7 quart or larger)
- Round cake rack (to put inside dutch oven to keep bottom of bread from getting too brown)
- Parchment paper
- 2 Mixing bowls
- 1 large tea towel
- Large colander (optional)
Food Supplies:
- 5 pound bag of unbleached all purpose flour
- Salt
- 16 oz filtered (non-chlorinated) water
- Coarse Sea Salt to top bread
