Christian Science youth currently are eligible to apply for the National Leadership Council (NLC) in the Fall of their 8th grade year. Each year 2 classes of up to 20 students are accepted by narrowing the number of teens that move on through each stage of the selection process.

Applicants are asked to prayerfully consider the commitment to this multi-year program before applying. If you choose to apply, please take care in filling out your application. APPLICATION PROCESS

NLC Application Deadline Extended to October 15, 2023!

  1. Confirm Eligibility – Entering 8th grade in the fall and able to abide by the above DB NLC expectations and Community Conduct found in the application instructions.
  2. Apply – Complete the application.

  3. Complete Essay Question – Use Google form link found within the application to submit.

  4. Share Reference Form Link One reference from each of the following people is required.
    • Core-subject Teacher: (Homeschooled teens may choose a coach, troop leader or family friend who can speak to the teen’s work ethic.)
    • Sunday School Teacher
  5. Interview If selected, the NLC staff will contact you and your parents to set up an interview.
  6. Follow-Up Assignment There will be a final assignment for those teens selected.

Acceptance Process

  1. Selection Process – After all interviews are finished, the NLC staff will review each applicant and select those who meet the criteria.

  2. Announcement – New classes will be announced with an email mid-November, followed by a welcome call in December. Those not selected will be notified beforehand.

  3. All Class Retreat Classes will come together for the first time over the long weekend in January.

Program Cost

The cost to the family of the program over four years for each participant is approx. $12,500 (includes the All Class Retreat and Summer Experiences, plus estimated travel. Note – financial aid in the form of scholarships is available for those in need.
